The Unfinished Saint is a book written by my husband, Cayman Barber, that explores the gap between the doctrine and culture of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

The Unfinished Saint is a stay-in guide for the member sitting in the back row, the one who loves the gospel deeply but is exhausted by the culture around it. Written by a junior high history teacher, returned missionary, and lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, this book is an honest conversation about the gap between perfect doctrine and imperfect people, written by someone who has lived inside that gap and found a way to stay anyway.

Cayman Barber has sat in the back row of a ward where nobody knew his name. He has stayed on a mission sick, but terrified of coming home. He has carried things in secret for a decade that he was too ashamed to say out loud. And he has come out the other side not with all the answers, but with something better: a framework for holding the hard questions without letting them pull him away from his testimony.

Part cultural critique, part historical defense, part practical field guide, The Unfinished Saint gives members the tools to tell the difference between the Core that never changes and the Culture that was never doctrine to begin with. It makes the evidential case for the Book of Mormon that your Sunday School class never quite got around to. It names the specific cultural wounds -- the Garment Glance, the Mission Clock, the Culture of Silence -- that are driving faithful people out the door. And it offers a practical path forward for anyone willing to show up and build something better in the parking lots and back rows of their own ward.

This is not a book for people who have it figured out.

It is a book for people who are still going anyway.

And if you made it this far, that's probably you.

    FAQs

    Do your prints come framed?

Regular prints do not come framed!

If you want to skip the stress of finding a frame for your artwork, I recommend picking a canvas or framed canvas print instead of a paper print.

My favorite places to shop for frames are thrift stores, Hobby Lobby, and Target!

When should I expect to receive my order?

Regular production time is 1-4 business days, and 1-4 additional business days for shipping through USPS. As a small business, I do my best to get orders out as quickly as possible! During sales or busier seasons, orders may take additional time to ship. Thank you in advance for shopping small & being patient!

Canvas (framed and unframed) and Large Format Print Orders (16x20 or larger) will arrive in 1-2 weeks. These orders are printed just for you through another small business we work with, so production times are a few days longer than regular orders.

If you need your order by a certain date, shoot me an email (kenna@kennaelizabethart.com) and I'll do my best to get it to you by that date.

    Do you ship internationally?

I am not currently able to ship internationally through my website, but international shipping is available through my Etsy Shop!

I made a mistake on my order. What do I do?

If you notice a mistake on your order after it has already been placed, please send an email to kenna@kennaelizabethart.com and I will do my best to correct the mistake!

A few things to keep in mind:

    • Shipping addresses can be changed as long as the package has not been shipped
    • Orders can be cancelled as long as it has not been shipped.
    • Discount codes can only be applied if the sale is still active. If the sale has passed, I won't be able to apply the code to your order!

    Do you take custom orders?

I do not currently accept custom orders! Custom work is not my strength, so I prefer to focus on creating paintings that resonate more deeply with me and a wider audience.

Here are a few artists I recommend for custom work:

    Mikkele (@facelessbymikkele)

    Bree Copley (@watercolorsbybree)

    Nicole (@rndillustrations)

    Hanna (@hereiambooks)

    Kadee (@bykadeediane)

You can also find custom artists through Etsy by searching for the type of custom painting you are looking for!

    Reviews

This is a beautiful piece of art which made a heartfelt gift for my niece who lost her baby.

Kenna's art is so beautiful! We have several of her pieces around our house! Everyone always compliments them when they come over! I recommend her to all my friends and have gotten them as a gift for people too! Her art is unique and stunning! She is the sweetest and so talented! The picture with this review has a weird glare so it doesn't give the art the justice it deserves!
