The original painting was done plein air style (out in the open with the subject in view) near Wellsville, Utah in the beautiful Cache Valley.

This painting is named after the hymn, 'Our Mountain Home So Dear.'

I've started a new tradition of naming my landscape paintings about hymns, and the title of this song just made me smile.

I grew up in the Heber Valley surrounded by beautiful mountains and always feel safe and at home near them. This painting is of the mountains you see right as you drive into Cache Valley, which has become home for the past few years.

This painting and this song remind me of the love I have for my mountain homes and how good God is to give us these beautiful creations to live right next to.
